Seth Toback, MD, MBA, MMM

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Seth Toback serves as Chief Medical Officer of ARMR Sciences, where he will bring his more than two decades of leadership in clinical development and medical affairs to advance the company’s scientific and medical strategy. A board-certified physician-scientist with deep expertise in vaccines, infectious diseases, and respiratory medicine, Seth has built a career on translating cutting-edge science into approved therapies that impact patients’ lives.

Prior to joining ARMR Sciences, Seth served as Senior Vice President of Global Medical Affairs at Novavax, where he founded, scaled, led the global medical strategy for Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine portfolio — overseeing clinical data interpretation, real-world evidence generation, post-marketing studies, and scientific communications in support of commercial launches across international markets.

Earlier, Seth served as Vice President of Clinical Development at Novavax, where he was the medical lead on the pivotal Phase 3 trial of the NVX-CoV2373 vaccine in the United Kingdom, directly supporting the emergency use authorization of Novavax’s first licensed COVID-19 vaccine. He also held senior roles at bioMérieux, United Therapeutics, Gilead Sciences, and AstraZeneca/MedImmune, where he led Phase 1–4 clinical programs across a range of therapeutic areas and contributed to multiple regulatory filings and FDA approvals.

Seth began his career as a practicing pediatrician and clinical investigator, serving as a sub-investigator in more than 50 late phase vaccine studies while managing a thriving private practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  His first role in industry was as the Medical Lead for FluMist, AstraZeneca’s live attenuated influenza vaccine where his work led to it’s preferential recommendation by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Seth holds a Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine, a Master of Medical Management (MBA for physicians) from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from McGill University.
