Sharon Levy, MD, MPH is a nationally recognized leader in adolescent addiction medicine and substance use disorder treatment. She serves as Chief of the Division of Addiction Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Levy is a founding board member of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and has played a pivotal role in advancing addiction medicine as a recognized pediatric subspecialty. Her clinical and research work focuses on early identification, prevention, and evidence-based treatment of substance use disorders in adolescents and young adults, with particular attention to opioid use and emerging synthetic drug threats.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and national guidelines addressing youth substance use screening, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adolescents, and strategies to reduce overdose risk. Dr. Levy is widely regarded for translating rigorous clinical research into practical protocols that can be implemented in pediatric and community healthcare settings.

Through her leadership at Boston Children’s Hospital and national policy engagement, Dr. Levy works at the intersection of clinical care, public health, and education—advancing scalable solutions to protect vulnerable youth from the evolving addiction crisis.
